The wife is begging for some sort of Slider or something on the 62 so she and the kids can get in easier....She's worried we'll mess up the seats trying to slide up in them, so she says Sliders or step rails are a must.....
I know theres a guy on the 60 forum that builds sliders for around 600 but I kinda wanted to do it myself since i've got the tools....

I got scammed on the roof rack deal so she wants me to make one of those too....I'm already planning a Safari rack to go over the soft top on the 40 but this leads to my question:

Where does one buy steel for these projects? I need something beefy for the Sliders and just some square tube for the racks but I don't know where to go.....

If anyone in Charleston has any ideas or some scrap let me know - I need an excuse to go to Charleston anyway before May 7th....

So far I've been cutting Bikes, Trikes, and bed rails and welding mutant bikes and trikes for Chandler..:grinpimp:... I absolutely love my new welder and look forward to some projects for my rides....

Steel

Should be a commercal vendor in Florance, I know there are at least two in Sumter.

Jim, try Blossom Metals across from Schofield on Cashua or DSI Metal on the frontage road across from Flo/Darl Tech.

I have bought from both.

DSI is a BIG warehouse full of metals. I like the guy at Blossom, he can get whatever you need if it is not in stock.

If you just want to come to Chas, Charleston Steel is on Meeting Street. My buddy w/ the plasma cam gets his from somewhere in Goose Creek.

Thats exactly what I needed...Thanks....

Pat and I can pick it up for you if you need help. I have a 10 foot trailer or my cargo trailer with a roof rack.

Let me know, we can meet you there when your are ready.

Sounds good David...I'll let you know when I get it figured out....I went and bought some rod to make soft doors with and i'm about halfway done with that project....it seems to be a good primer for getting used to my welder...hopefully i can get some rack steel soon....

Did Pat sell his Jeep?

No, but he bought a Toyota truck drive drive everyday to save gas.

$140 and they fit perfect according to some reviews of people installing them on 60/62's. I think the price includes shipping too. At that price, it ain't worth tracking down steel and a bender unless you just like building things yourself.

Trail-Gear Inc > Rock Sliders

Jeremy

That looks good...I'll try to look around in the 60's forum to see what they look like installed....Can't beat the price though....
