When we bought our rig I knew I could overlook the torn seats as I've owned 4 Cruisers in the past and it's just something I'm used to seeing and living with. It's weird, this time it's the passenger seat that is torn terribly, and the driver's seat only has a couple of rips. My initial thought was that they probably just swapped cushions side to side, however the passenger seat outside bolster had wear too which makes me think it has always been on that side.

This rig though is so nice compared to the rest that it began to bother me and these seats were the worst I have ever seen. I called a local Lexus dealer and with my discount 25% it was going to be $475 for just the bottom leather cushion cover. As bad as I wanted it fixed I just didn't want to pay that much and was considering some imitation sheepskin covers and just trying to be okay with that.

Until today...

I was at work and remembered that down the road there is a Toyota/Lexus/Scion Recycler, (not to be confused with the one up the street from them "LTS Auto Dismantle").

I looked a their inventory and saw they had a new rig in their inventory a 2003 LX470 with the gray interior same as our 1998. The passenger seat looked perfect in pictures and was listed as "Grade A". I called to ask and the guy said normally the seat is $275, but because I work at a dealership he will let me have it for $200.

I took a long lunch and drove down to look at it. There is was, absolutely perfect and I looked at the driver's seat while I was there and it too had no rips, but just slight wear on the left bolster and minor loss of color at the bottom of the backrest, but my driver's seat also had a few rips.

i asked him if I could get a deal for both seats and he agreed to $350 for both seats.

I took them back to work and had a friend in the detail department clean, apply conditioner/softener, and finish with leather treatment.

I couldn't wait until after work to grab my 14mm and swap them out for the new ones!!

Now onto the pictures, first the old seats, then the new...

Those look great for a salvage yard find, congrats.

I regularly troll inventories at our local yards hoping to find a replacement door panel. I've yet to come across what I'm looking for.

Congrats, I hate you lol! I'm still looking, ordered skins from Metric, had to get my money back after six months no product no communication, still looking for at least bottom seat skins

If you have gray interior the door panels were still there in the 2003 I looked at...

HA! Thanks! I too had considered Metric TLC but had heard stories that unfortunately seem to happen too often.

Nice. Take those old skins and have the bad panels replaced and some new bottom cushions and sell those seats! I'm shopping for another 100 and nearly all have bad driver seat bottom.

Yeah, I really think that besides keeping the seats conditioned, a real big part is leaving windows cracked during the hot months. I see so many cars parked during the summer with all the windows up and it just makes me shake my head. People don't realize the amount of head their interior is being exposed to.

I am not going to put any money into the seats I just removed. I think I'm going to post them for sale and hope someone locally will just pick them up!

Wonder if those can be fitted on a 80.... The arm rests goes along way on the hundy seats...

I'm not sure if they can be, but I bet someone has tried it!! It looks like they are already tentatively spoken for!
