Sorry for the delay responding ... no I did not go with the EcoFlo or the Biofilter ... I went with a standard septic bed at my cottage. So far it has been fine -- but I had to replace the pump that lifted the effluent up into the bed as it seized (may have been seized when initially installed for all I know as the contractor delayed installing it for some reason while I was finishing other construction - I suspect he may have thrown a bad pump in just to have a cord exiting the and keep me from calling him every week.

Well if was worth a shot. I have been having difficulty finding more people who own the biofilter. I have found a few, but...would like to find more. Sorry to hear about your pump. How long have you had it? Mine is 13 years old not and never had a problem with it so, ya, might have been defective when they installed yours. Thank you for the reply and if you know anyone else who owns one let me know and I will leave an email they can contact me on.

The pump that was seized/failed was only about 2 years old. I see you are in Canada as am I ... I had my regular septic system installed at my cottage in Sault Ste Marie. I live near the GTA. FWIW when I contacted the biofilter people around Guelph (IIRC) they mentioned that they installed a number of their systems on the Trent water way due to rocky ground and the difficulty in installing standard septic fields (and tanks) ... I also considered the more common 'moss' treatment tanks but was told that the moss required periodic replacement and that that could mount up in cost ... but I did not pursue this any further.

Well I have had no problem with my system itself, I would actually recommend it, however it is the instillation process where things can go wrong. You are lucky you did not go with the ecoflo anyways because they were selling it as a much less expensive system than others and this was completely untrue
