My wife and I will be spending next week at sunset beach, nc. she saw a ferry ride over to bull island and signed us up. she wants to find shells and roam a bit.

How.much walking is involved? She's got neck and back issues, and I'm a bit concerned she may get in over her head.

It would be a couple hours each way from sunset beach, which isn't a big deal

Any info would be appreciated. I'll be armed with a backpack with water, food, bug sprsy, and other misc stuff

Are you talking about Bull Island down near Charleston? If so, I think I remember going over to it a long time ago. If it is the same place, I remember a lot of beautiful shells and lots of mosquitos but it has been lots of years!

It's an awesome trip, you won't regret it. I think its 7 or 8 miles long, but you can brink bikes on the ferry. I think you can also kayak it that's your thing. Bird watcher are really into it, so bring binoculars if you don't mind carrying them around. I can't tell from your signature, are you local?

Thanks for the info. We are up in Greensboro, with ONSC, and will be using a buddy's beachhouse on sunset beach, north of myrtle. I'm converting a transfer wheelchair to offroad use (big tires), so i can push her down to the beach. That would be just to get her from the boat dock to the beach, where she can roam around. Her two main goals are the driftwood boneyard, and shells. I'm cool with the walkin and pushin, I just dont think she could make it.

Having moved to NC from FL, we've seen our fill of alligators. LOL
