I’m working on the p0401 code (What fun), and I used a scangauge to clear the code. However, the scanguage apparently wipes the vehicle’s memory and the vehicle needs to complete new testing before it will return to the ready state required to report to the scanguage. At this point the scanguage simply states that the car is not ready for testing, so I have no way of telling if we fixed the issue causing the code. So, anyone know the procedure to get the on board computer to finish testing and return to the ready state? :hhmm:
Thanks,
Cook.

Mine clears the code and is ready right after that. I don't know why yours is "testing".

The scanguage will read and return 'no codes'. But under the reading is will say 'no raeady'. Is you google the issue it explains that the car computer has to go throigh certain driving conditions to finish a testing cycle before being ready for testing.

If it were a Dodge, I would cycle the ignition key 5 or 6 times rapidly (without engaging the starter position), that will reset it. All I got..:meh:

Does it have the capability to tell what is in "not ready" state? I don't know how the scan gauge clears codes, but should just clear the one code, not reset the ECU?

If true the only code in not ready mode will be the EGR, if so this is normal with the mod that you did and is acceptable for emission testing. They allow one to be in not ready mode, as long as the CEL isn't on and no active codes are set.

I recall that issue with my scanguage on my 80. IIRC I had to start the vehicle and drive it over 30 mph at least 3 times (3 cycles of start, drive and shutdown) then it would read correctly.
Hope this helps. Terry
