I am new to the RC forum but have been on the 100 series forum. I am in hopes of building a 100 series scale rock crawler. I know that there are no 100 series bodies, but I think I will be able work something out eventually. Well, since I wanted to build around an axial drivetrain, I decided to purchase an axial crawler on ebay.Found a good deal and started bidding for this crawler. I am searching for an SCX10 chassis or a similarly set up chassis for a truly scale look. For now, I want to share pictures of my new rock crawler. Looks like I'll be going with the new interco 1.9 swampers from proline racing

I'll probably be keeping only the transmission, suspension components and axles.

the main chassis is for sale, btw! Or I am looking to trade for wheels/tires along with a SCX10 chassis

So...this build has taken a turn for the better! I (in the process of painting my fj40 body in metallic bronze) effed it up..so I decided to paint it with orange on the outside and use the fj40 body as a beater

Here is the truck right now

It now has an scx10 frame and a 4 link in the front and rear. 70mm links in the rear and 68mm links in the back(for those of you interested in making your scx10 and fj40...need to get a pair of lexan scissors next time:D

Also decided that I will make extended shock mounts in the rear so that I can run longer shocks

100mm shocks in the front should be fine with 120mm in the rear...I don't think 120mm shocks in the front would be adviseable since the tire is already tucked all the way to the fender when flexing. I want to keep the scale look so I will see once I decide on tires. I am thinking a 4.5" tire. Option 2 would be to just have the 120mm shocks mounted to stock shocktowers all the way around and take advantage of added "lift"(not sure how this would look though)

also, body is not mounted yet, it is only sitting atop the frame! I want to use velcro to mount it so I don't have those ugly rc clip!

So..moving forward with the build. I managed to pick up an 80 series body! But that will be used for a 1.55 scale build.

I decided that I want this thing to be the ultimate backyard basher! I got rid of the axial crossmember and tranny mount and decided use a 2 speed transmission from a first gen traxxas e-maxx! Dual motors and shift on the fly is the goal here. I was going to mount the tranny on the axial x-member but wanted a lower COG and better driveline angles

Also picked up another FJ40 body since the first one was basically screwed! Can't wait for the emaxx tranny mounts to dry:D Since I cant use a skidplate, I will eventually get a metal case for the tranny, when it breaks

Here is the mocked up emaxx transmission.

Nice progression. Did you keep the original crawler or is it all gone? Emaxx trans, I like your thinking, though if you are gonna really haul *** you are really gonna have to develop your driver skills. I find myself flopping my honcho with a 45T in turns pretty regularly.

Lol the original crawler is all gone! I know what you mean about the driving skills! Lets see pics of your honcho:D I'm thinking dual 35t motors in the emaxx tranny:hmm:

It actually does have a 35T in it . Guess I should get it out a little more often.

Here are a few pics of the Honcho posing with my Bruiser.

I still have a 3Racing winch to install and would like to make some wheel wells to help hide the electronics.

I just realized that these were both Christmas presents from my lovely :princess:
The Bruiser is going to be kind of a Resto-Mod and will probably be a fall/winter project for me to work on.
