Just picked up a new-to-me 100 series last week, moving on from almost 5 years with a JDM Mitsubishi Delica L400. (On the www.delica.ca website my username is tonydca)

It's a 2001 year, full meticulous service history since new, all major PM work done as far as I can tell (timing chain, brakes, wheel bearings, fluids, filters etc.). Not a scratch on any of the diff cases or skid plates. Very excited!

Drove it 400km home to Vancouver BC and couldn't believe it. The vehicle has over 270K kms and not a squeak, bump, rattle, knock, shimmy - nothing! I commented to my wife that I have driven vehicles with 1/10th this much mileage that already sounded like crap.

I recall that between these vehicles and the Lexus LS400, Toyota was effectively trying to shut Mercedes out of the top spot for build quality and it shows!

Now this is the point where I must sheepishly admit that this fine vehicle comes in the disguise of a Lexus LX470. But don't hold that against me too badly...

Buncha little things I want to do to it for now:

- It suffers from 10+ winters in the salty interior of the province in the form of minor underside surface corrosion in some places in the rear (but nothing structural - believe me I checked!!), so I want to get a Krown treatment done.

- Rear speaker/woofer is shot I think.

- Although it comes with the factory towing package, it is only the 4-pin electrical connector, so I need to upgrade to electric trailer brakes to do the big trailer pull over the coming months. HGopefully Toyota added a connector in the vehicle harness somewhere.

- The stereo has no Aux input or USB input (amazing how much electronics has improved in 13 years). So I'm looking at adding a Parrot (www.parrot.com) interface under the dash; not sure if anyone else has done this or similar here.

- Need to run a weld bead or similar around the seam of the forward muffler on the exhaust; the leak has begun...

- A couple of the driver's seat froo-froo bits (lumbar support and seat heater) don't seem to work, so I'll be yanking out electricals sometime soon.

So between the Search function, looking for shop manuals, and new postings, I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions in the coming months.

Hopefully I can also meet up with some folks to go out on some of the backroads around Vancouver; my boys and I would love it!

Cheers!!
