Runes are cool, but very impractical. You can do almost nothing to them. Windshields, seats, bags, anything really. I'm surprised you've seen exhaust. All I've ever heard of is drilling out the baffles.

Whats funny about a totally passing comment about the looks of a bike...
I didn't even say it "LOOKED" like it... I didn't sit down and pour over comparison photos.......
But the semi-stretched, low styling, the seat setup, made me think v-rod knockoff...
Whats not funny is when someone feels the need to jump on a previous poster for a completely benign, totally subjective comment about how something looks....
It's funny because Harley spent millions developing a "modern" bike that looked like a bike that came out in the 80s.
Yamaha can't make a knockoff of a bike that it pre-dated by 20 years.

Uh... I know they existed before the V-rod.. I assumed they had been discontinued? I haven't seen a "new" one in at least a decade.. I was not talking about vmax'es in general, I was only commenting about the OP pic, which I thought was a "new" vmax.. and appeared to have some styling changes... Its obviously not from 1985...

Not discontinued. Mostly unchanged for 20+ years. The OP one is the first re-style since then.
Maybe we have a different definition of knockoff. To me it means a cheap copy. If anything the V-Rod is a copy of the V-Max. The new Max is definitely a evolution of the original.

"Knockoff" was for lack of a better word.... But indeed, yours would be the formal definition. Although the cheap part is not always the case imo, there have been "knockoffs" that are a great buy and not really "cheap"..... Imitation being a form of flattery an all that... A poplular look or style will always be copied...
