I saw a 79 toyota pickup for sale in Austin, tx. They are asking 5,000. It has had the engine rebuilt by one of those 4 cylinder toyota engine specialist places. Look like four inches of spring lift. Has new looking 33" bfg all terrains. Had some type of slider, and seemed be in good aesthetical condition. That is all I could gather based on the sign. If anyone is interested I could gather a telephone number and maybe the mileage, which I forgot to check for.

Wow, there have been a few 79's and 80's in Norcal for under 3,000. Unless you have big $ and are nostalgic, I don't see the attraction. I had an 1980 longbed 4x4 and an '86 xtra cab. The '86 with EFI was sooo much better.

Seems a bit much for a 79, unless it's got a lot more on it than a lift and sliders. I bought a stock 83 two years ago in good running condition for $800. If you want to spend that kind of money, I'd add another $2500 and get this http://www.sleeoffroad.com/for_sale/4runner/4runner.htm

dang

thats all i can say

but is that thing legal? something tells me that a customized truck like that doesnt exactly fit all the codes and whatnot...

It would probably pass here in KS, not sure about other places, tho.. I was thinking more of it as a trail rig, not a dd. If you're looking for something that can be a dd and a trail rig, then I would agree with cube dweller on getting an newer truck and doing a solid axle swap.

Where are you guys seeing all the 79 and 80's for sale? I want a 79 4x4 short bed (rust free) and they are never found . I assume that they have all rotted away on the east coast, excpet mine (79) which is on it's way to rotting away!
