I'm driving my LX450 today in Blacksburg, VA today and I pull up beside a newish 4x4 Toyota pickup. I glanced over and thought, "Oh, I guess they updated the Taco...wait, that's not a Taco!"

It said 2.7L Hilux on the side. 4 door cab. Short bed with a sporty looking aluminum utility rack in the bed.

It was NOT a rebadged Taco. Much more euro-styling.

I did some Googling and found that this looks like the truck (a 2011):

So what's the deal? Can we get a Hilux in the US now? The vehicle did not have VA tags, but I didn't get a good look at them.

I should have tried to pull the guy over...I was only beside him for about 15secs. Sorry to not have more info for all you rabid Toyota fans...

We could only be so lucky to have a 4 door hilux with the D4D engine.

Track that guy down and demand to know how he got it in the states...:grinpimp:

Love to drop a D4D engine in my 60.

You can't buy a Hilux here. It was probably a temporary import or he was just passing through.

I saw 2 of them a few weeks ago on a trailer in Charleston. Both were diesel and both decked out with OME and ARB gear and stickers.

On my way to a job site in VA, I saw an entire parking lot filled with brand new, plastic on the seat, 70's and 90's, I got out and drooled on the windows before I realized I was at the State Departments radio installation facility. Thank goodness there was a hurricane.
