My kids and wife want to go to the beach on Saturday. They want to go to Cultus. If I am forced into that it will involve some time playing on Vedder Mountain.

Anyone want to go somewhere less busy and still sunny and kid friendly? Open to ideas.

Cultus will be a zoo on Saturday. I suppose most places will be busy on Saturday anywhere west of Hope.

I've always liked Rolley Lake. I often take the kids up there after dinner for an evening swim. Most days there might be 5 other families there at that time. Not sure what it's like the rest of the day but with no motors allowed on the lake, it's generally a little quieter.

I'm booked on other family stuff for Saturday; we may be doing a hike to Lindeman Lake (which will be busy too, unfortunately!!!)

We went to the first public beach on BC Day. We got there early enough but by lunch it was crazy. Beautiful sight seeing though. Makes up a little bit for the busy beach.

I have never been to Rolley. I will look for it on the back road maps.

One thing my wife will ask "Does it have leaches?"

No leaches but it does get muddy/weedy after about 30 feet or so. Relatively small swimming area; if you have teenagers; they'll prefer a dock or something to swim out to. Rolley is just up the road from Stave Lake. Hayward Lake (below Stave) is even nicer but colder to swim at but depending upon the water level in the resevoir, it may not be open to swimming, check BC Hydro's rec site info online to be sure.

The far beaches at Cultus are a little better towards the campground, not so many large rocks; we've had some bad swimmers itch at Cultus, so we won't go back.

I agree. It is not a safe place for people until BC Parks decides if they want a park for people or domesticated Canadian Geese.

Chilliwack lake is a lot cleaner. The beach is a real nice sand. However, it gets deep quick and the deep water is ice cold.

I remember my first time at Chilliwack Lake. I was dared to jumped off the bridge into the lake, thinking no big deal. I think my heart stopped for a few seconds, it was so F'n cold!

Anyone want to go to Chehalis, Harrison or elsewhere to let kids swim. Looks like a hot Saturday.

My kids like swimming in it. It is a beautiful, clear lake. 2300 feet elevation, pretty easy to get to...very picturesque, usually not too many people.

Yeah, the chief informed me that we can't go to the lake until tomorrow so if anyone wants to go to Kenyon....

North Chehalis, such an awesome site, and only a 2 hour or so drive from the house. It's getting a little more popular these days, but loads of room, with an endless supply of DRY firewood. There was 4 or 5 small groups camping there.
We should deactive the new easy route in tho.....
Sundays yard work got postponed, just too damn nice out, and friends invited us out to go tubing at Cultus.

We went for a little walk before we left, and met this group in a fj60. The shelter had been built by someone else, and they added the sign. It's pretty sweet.
The fire in the log pile behind was kinda scary, it happened within the last week or two they figured.

We went to Kenyon yesterday. There was a ?family? on the Island camping, in the buff. That had my kids concerned. :) Can't go to the island they says.

Anyway, site looks great! We gave the table a coat of paint, did some canoeing, swimming and just enjoyed a gorgeous day at a gorgeous lake!

What, you want a picture of Peter Johnson and his brothers Dick and Willy?

Our Saturday plans changed. We got up later then we wanted and decided on Tits...Kits Beach in Vancouver. Kids had fun. Scenery was good. Lots of mods on some of those women, probably more then I have into the 80. Saw the classic Arnold looking guy. Huge shoulders and arms, skinny legs and his head looked like the size of a pea on his shoulders.

We also went in the Kits Pool. I haven't been there since I was a kid. It was a lot of fun. We did take the 80 so that was my day in the Cruiser.
