Finally had a day off so I made a quick trip to Deer Valley Trail and ran into the FJ45 Group. Nice bunch of guys. It was great weather up there and much cooler.

Nice pictures, weather looks nicer than the previous weekend.

I am looking forward to going again. Was fun.

Did you see any Jeep Grand Cherokees stranded? lol

I usually do this run with these guyz! Im actually kinda bummed that I couldnt make this year. Its a blast.
Looks like you had a great day Mark.
Did you go all the way through or just in to the river and back out?

BTW...your cruiser looks AWESOME!
Was it a restore, or is it all "original"?

We just went in to the River. My co-pilot, my little Rottweiler wanted to play with all the other dogs at the campsite. The only problem is he is only 8 months old and the vet weighed him a couple days ago and he was 102lbs. but he doesn't know that he is that big.

The Cruiser is original. My adult children loved to ride in it when they were little and now my son, who is 30 years old, keeps asking me when I am going to give it to him.

A couple years ago I did start fixing it up a little to make it a little more trail worthy. Pretty much all stock, just added lockers, chromolys, lift, some 33's and a few other little improvements.

P.S. it was 69 degrees up there and there was a cool breeze, perfect weather!

FJ45 run

I think ran into you on your way out. I was heading in, in the FJ45swb.

I think I only saw 1 other NV plate this weekend, LONWLKR besides ours.

I came back last night after the raffle. The wife has scheduled me for some saddle time this morning.

This years turnout was a little lighter than 2008. About the same as 06 and 07. I didn't make last year so cannot comment.

Hopefully we'll see more next year, including more NV participants. -- everyone that brings a Toyota is going to win a raffle prize...

Ive gone for the last 3 years. I was bummed I had to sit this out.
Im sure it was a good time!

Yes Sir, I think we did pass on the trail and what a neat rig you have. I also saw this cool ride at the campsite.

Keith, you were so right about deer valley trail - each time I go there I like it more. It is definately one of my favorite trails.

Would you need a lift to do the trail? Or is stock O.K.?

You could probably do HALF the trail with a stock rig.
If you come in from Blue lakes its pretty straight forward if you take your time. This will run you down to the water crossing where Marks pics are. Beyond that, Youll want a lift and some bigger tires or AT LEAST sliders. Some may disagree with this, but IMO better safe than sorry. Either that, if you dont care much about how the rig looks afterwards....:D
My first time through was in my 60 wagon and it was basically stock. Had a hell of a time getting through it. However, that was my first REAL wheeling experience too. So that may have skewed my perception some....

I would suggest one. Echoing Chicago's statement about sliders too. I have sliders, skid plates, 4x4 labs bumper, and arb bumper. I don't have the tallest lift, 2.5" or the biggest tires 315s, but it was enough. I smacked the sliders and skids fairly well. I hit the rear bumper as well, but that was due to my own fault. It was my first 'major' wheeling trip in my truck. We came in from the other side where it was, in my opinion, quite a bit harder. After the 2nd crossing it got a lot easier, but was still a challenge.

A 3" lift and 35's make the trail pretty easy, but still technical.

No lift and 31's will make you have a hard day of it, and you WILL have some damage somewhere.

Thanks for the pix sarmark.. looks like you had fun...

you can do it in a stock 80 with sliders..a stock 40 series would be a long day....

sfm12 (scot ) and I did this trail a couple of weeks ago with 2- 80 series. Scot's is stock except for sliders and a rear locker.. My 80 is lifted with sliders, 33's and locked on both ends.. we did fine . The only place scot got hung up was the gatekeeper on the south end and that was just because of his line.. it took us about 6hrs.. and one scratched bumper corner...

let me add that both of us have wheeled a bit and dont care about scratches and dents in our rigs....

I did the whole trail in my 45 with 31's before I had any lift. Just a couple of lunchbox lockers and the SM465 granny. No sliders other than a skidplate, and I did no damage. Not easy, but certainly doable.

It was a long day, only about 6 hrs. around Markleeville and back. But long mostly because we'd left all my tools, spares, radio, ice chest ... and TP back at camp where my copilot unloaded everything and I didn't notice until about an hour in. I kept on going because I knew other folks were out there that weekend, just not in my caravan of 1. What can I say, it was my first time on that road and I didn't know it would get that hairy.
