Its cheap for a phone & airtime but only as a one year disposable thing and only for Canada. If you look at the price of their plans (what happens after 12 months), it's really expensive.
plus I thought global star was not recommended really for back country as they had some of there satellites go down in the last few years and have lots of dead zones

That's my understanding. Globalstar has been in a lot of financial difficulties as well. X2 poor service.
