I have a bit of overspray on my cheap paint job. Actually, the paint looks pretty good, but I would like to see if I can get the overspray to look less obvious. Any suggestions?
Wet sand with 1000, or 1500, or other grit ? Other method? Leave it alone :) No wax has been applied yet.
Thanks!

I would start with 2000 (with water) on a soft like sponge pad. Use your palm and stay off the edges. If it doesn't cut it smooth down, go to 1500 and then back up. After sanding, I use 2 stages of rubbing compound on a buffer. #1 is for 1200 and finer and #2 is for 1500 and finer. If you still have swirl marks, I use a product called Finesse to finish it off. Remember, stay off the edges and do not over rev the buffer. Buffing through the paint is a painful experience. It is truly amazing what sanding, using rubbing compound and buffing can do to a garage paint job.

Before you start sanding on your paint, try detailers clay with some soapy water. It does wonders with overspray as long as its not too heavy.

+ 1 on the clay. Clay should take off most of it.

If you HAVE to use sandpaper, get some with a good foam backing pad and start with 3000 grit, and use lots of lube.

Thanks. I'll try the clay and maybe some careful wet sanding. I tried the Finesse with my buffer on some of the heavier overspray and it didn't do much.
