Any one have any opinions or stories to tell about any shops in San Diego?

I'm picking up an 80 series or LX-450 this weekend (crosses fingers). I'll probably get all of the fluids changed and a tune up. And really don't have the time at the moment to give it a good going through.

I know one of the service writers at the Kearney Mesa Toyota Dealer, and I take the wife's mini-van there.... but dealers make me suspicious and I want the best for the LC.

There is also San Diego Trux, The Truck Stop ( https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?p=1727914 ), ORW, etc, etc. Any opinions?

I live down in Chula Vista (South bay), and work in downtown. Closer to home/work would be best.

Thanks,
-Lance

Call Behr at Sporty Utility Motorcars in Miramar. He did my front axle rebuild / brakes. He did a great job and was very reasonable. He is/was a landrover master mechanic from Iran of all places but seems to know his way around an LC. Mobile-arc uses him too.

San Diego Trux specializes in Toyota Trucks.
The owner John owns an 80 series.

Does excellent work.

Good to see somebody else from Chula Vista! I'll have to check out SD Trux one of these days. My 62 is up at TLC but that drive alone makes me want to run people off the road.

Mike, I wish that was what my Cruiser was getting. I did get 4.88's but I won't have them installed until I can afford to get the lockers as well. God bless TLC and their quality, but man it can get pricey up there.

Basically they "fixed" my spring over (Man-a-Fre REALLY messed it up), new driveshafts and flanges front and rear, rebuilt t-case, and rebuilt and modded the auto tranny. I also replaced the front springs with OME light duty (now I'm almost as high as you) and replaced the shocks with some long travel OME's. If I had them put in the gears and lockers, my bill would have topped 13K. If I had spent that much my wife...........well, it wouldn't have been pretty.

It's a good thing that an unlocked 60/62 is about equal to a locked 80. Now I can still wheel with you. As soon as my gears and lockers go in, I will be going where no 80 can follow.:flipoff2:

Where are you on the rock? Have only seen a gold 62 and a red 55...You might have seen my gray 60 up the hill from Pomona Park
