1988 Land Cruiser FJ62
218,XXX Miles
$19k OBO
Clean title in hand I have owned this FJ62 for 3 years and have spent that time working to get the Land Cruiser baselined and reliable while keeping it as original as possible. Its not perfect, but it’s a good honest example of a classic FJ62.
We had our first kid in January and sadly it’s time for something more modern.
The good stuff:
• Runs, drives, and stops great.
• All automatic windows work, some are slow but they work
• Auto locks work some (most?) of the time
• Interior is in good shape with the exception of the driver side seat tear. I have recovered fabric from 2 full back seats that I was going to use to reupholster
• Underbody and frame have little to no corrosion or rust
• Tires are in great shape
• Modern stereo w/ Apple Carplay
• Passes emissions with new catalytic converters
• Solid body with minimal rust
The Less Good Stuff:
• There is a leak coming in from somewhere that leaves a little water on the passenger side floorboard. Fairly confident the rain gutter sealant needs replacement (common issue)
• A/C does not work. Heat works great
• Oil pressure gage is not working. Gauge is fried and needs replacing
• Automatically locks and windows are slow
• No spare tire. Have Rim, and Crossmember. No rubber
• Rip in drivers seat
• Small leak are rear main seal
Installed by previous owner:
• New exhaust pretty much from the down pipe back (2 new cats, new muffler, y-pipe, etc)
• Old Man Emu 2.5" Lift Kit
• New stereo and speakers (Alpine ilx-w650 stereo and Rockford Fosgate speakers, front and rear). Front driver door speaker is acting up. I think I knocked a wire loose replacing the window switch. Haven’t opened it back up
• New front windshield pump and cap for reservoir
• Windshield wiper conversion kit from City Racer
• Rebuilt fusible link
Since my ownership:
• Changed all fluids and filters
• Knuckle Rebuild
• 555 Drag Link and Tie Rod Ends
• Old Man Emu Steering Stabilizer
• New windshield - Small leak at corners. Have not tried to seal yet o Had shop “fix” it twice
• New OEM Starter
• New OEM Alternator
• New Battery and Ground Cables
• New Rear Driveshaft. Installed by State Auto – August 2022
• All 3 Drivebelts Replaced. Installed by State Auto – April 2025
• Transmission Service. At State Auto – April 2025
• Rear Brake Adjustment & Service. State Auto – April 2025
• New Fuel Pressure Regulator, Vacuum Solenoid. State Auto – August 2025
• Dash Cap (not glued down). Original dash is cracked
• ARB Front Bumper
• Harbor Freight Winch
• 4 New Headlights
• Loyd Floor Mats
• New Ignition Coil (OEM)• New AT Shifter Bushings
• Tow Hitch
• Replaced or installed any lost or broken trim / interior panels / mudflaps / power antenna etc
The paint is not original. It was painted by a previous owner. It is tan, and appears to have a little bit of pearl in it. This Land Cruiser has been garaged in winter. Comes with a FSM, box of random parts and spares. I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot - I can answer any questions you have.
