Happy New Year folks. All the best 2021.
Quick question, anyone heard of Sakura Filters from Aus?
Was thinking of doing oil and air using them.
They have a good deal on, $59 for oil, air and petrol filters combo.
Meant to be great gear used by the mining and other Outback industry's in harsh conditions.
It's the first I've heard of them tho.
Cheers all.......... (hic*%-!)

Sakura and Australia doesn't go together. Never heard a good reputable company in Australia using a Japanese name. Anyways, why not oem? Filters are not that expensive. I get oil for $4, air $20 and fuel $25.

Ok, from what I've gleened today, Sakura took over an Aussie industrial filter maker and renamed it. They're meant to be pretty good but I've not heard of anyone using them. Was hoping for a bit of feed-back here.
Btw, you quoted US$'s49 for the kit?
Probably a bit cheaper in Aus$'s.
Cheers for the reply nisaanh

Your Welcome!

The $49 is US, so Australian $$ will fit into your Sakura filters. I have a friend in Canberra and he buys oil and fuel filters for his prado-90 from US. With shipping from US, he still finds it is cheaper option. Have you tried Partsouq.com? They are based in Dubai and very reliable.

Thanx nissanh. I'll look at Partsouq.com but am thinking of trying the Sakura filters because I really need to know.
Not sure if I'll get them for the 100 or the 80 series. Maybe the 80 as it's cheaper to repair if things go badly lol.

I use Sakura Fuel and oil filters on my HDJ100. I changed to Donaldson after using Australia's most common aftermarket filter for many years, but on a trip to Longreach had variable oil pressure (also changed from a Valvoline oil to HPR diesel 15). Check the Filter Supplies website - I found out that the Donaldson filters are made in a joint venture plant in Indonesia. In Australia, the smaller engine Fleetgard and Donaldson filters are Sakura with a different paint job. They also make OEM filters for several major brands.

I changed to their fuel filters as well. Their diesel fuel filters seem well made. Like the GUD filters (Ryco, Wesfil, Coopers), they warrant the engine against damage caused by the filter.

They are a Japanese brand, but are made in Indonesia by ADR group. While I would prefer an Australian made filter, they no longer exist. I would rather buy a filter made in an ISO9000 factory in a neighbouring country than a Chinese filter. Sakura cut their teeth on large truck filters.

Sakura are a "trade" filter - not commonly found on the shelf in retail outlets, which is why they are so cheap. Normally are purchased from internet only businesses or trade suppliers. I use OnlineAutoParts and buy 4 oil at a time for the Cruiser and for my old camry that I just drive to work.

Of course, in the Cruiser, oil and filter every 5000km.

I think I would get a Donaldson blue air filter when mine is due for replacement (it is a Wesfil), but I really don't see anything wrong with them. Other family cars I look after have Ryco synthetic filters to support longer oil drain intervals, with full synthetic oil.
