Hello all.. Im a new member here and just purchased a 1979 fj40. I was wondering if a Safari rack that was mounted on a 1970 will fit on a 79.

Thanks

1. Welcome!:flipoff2:[unofficial welcome sign!]

2. If you don't want more :flipoff2::flipoff2:, tell us about your rig and your plans for it. Post a few pics, or host them somewhere's with a link if you like.
We like pictures.

3. Roofs are substantially similar between the different years of 40 series. In the range you've listed, you should have no issue.

Best

Here is a pic of my rig.. My hope is make it a father/son project while making a nice driver for him. I was also wondering about the blower/fan on the drivers side of the engine compartment. Is this to reduce the heat under the hood?

thanks

That's the carb cooling fan. Keeps the fuel from boiling. If your's is working you should be able to hear it run for a bit after the engine is shut off.
