After much emotional distress, I'm selling my FJ60.
My wife and I want a diesel truck to tow the race cars and travel to Labrador.
So...
1987 FJ60.
Metallic Blue/Grey.
2.5" BDS/Ironman lift kit, new shocks, greaseable shackles.
New exhaust, 2.5" with a flowmaster.
15x8" steel wheels with 33x12.5-15 MT Baja Claws.
Custom front and rear bumpers.
Custom swing-out tire/hi-lift carrier.
De-smogged, Weber carb (the power one).
New radiator.
New brake calipers and lines.
New pads, rotors, hubs rebuilt.
New shoes and slave cylinders.
New clutch master and slave.
IDF driving lights.
Pioneer CD/Ipod stereo with port and new speakers (Pioneer).
Stock wheels with a set of good Dunlop radial Rover ATs.
One stock wheel with a Dunlop Mud Rover 33x12.5-15.
Nice tint.
New, decent paint.
Recent tune including NGK wires,
Small spares package.
When I bought the truck, the rear of the fram, after the forward spring eyes, was rusty.
I fabricated a new chock crossmember out of 1.5"x.120 DOM tubing, and .75" solid steel shanks for the actual shock eyes.
I then grouond off the rust and POR'd it, as well as Corrison Xing everything I could find.
One of my employees then ran it into a tree.
He drove it home and paid to fix it.
It neede a new hood driver's fender, headlights, and grille.
AS long as it was getting this, I took the opportunity to have the rear fenders bobbed at the level of the tailgate. I also undercoated the rocker panels.
I fabricated a new front bumper, complete with triangulation. It is a nice solid chunk of steel.
The only time I actually took it someplace muddy, I was rear-ended by an ATV.
So I built a new rear bumper with Nerf bars for the quarters.
Problems:
1) Small vacuum leak. Needs to actually have someone replace gasket.
2) Leaks oil. It's a Landcruiser.
3) Driver's seat shows a lot of wear.
4) It does not like to start in cold weather. Electric choke needs adjustment.
5) When you squirt thr windshield the wipers don't turn on, but all the other wiper positions work.
Other than that, about what you'd expect from a 20 year old truck with 181,000 miles.
It's never let me down.
804-355-4440 at work. Ask for Jeff.
804-329-6660 at home until midnight.
