Glad to see that I found some experienced locals in the Land Cruiser world. I just recently relocated to San Antonio and currently attending school. I also just recently traded an ATV for a 1973 FJ40. I am new to the 40 world due to being stuck on Jeeps and not noticing the 40s until I moved to Texas. While I dont really have the space to do much work here at the house, I am always willing to help another on their cruiser, so please contact me if you would like some help on anything. I am not a great mechanic by no means, and most likely not even a good mechanic, but I enjoy trying to figure out solutions.

I am interested in attending the meeting coming up, is this also when I could fill out the proper paperwork to join??

I am looking forward to meeting some new people as I haven't exactly had much social interaction since moving here.

Hope to see ya soon!

Tight Lines,
Daniel

One last thing... Is anyone selling or know of anyone selling the following parts?

1. Rear Jumpseats(short or long style)
2. OEM Factory Soft top w/bows
3. Barn door tailgate/flip down tailgate
4. hard doors or full soft doors
5. instrument cluster(or someone who might know how to hook mine up...not sure if it actually works)
6. advice!
7. Also might possibly be looking for a hard top but thats in the future unless the price is right...

Also looking for some advice on finding someone who knows how to weld. I am wanting to replace the rear quarter panels. Also painting... I am definitely not a painter and would like to find someone that can paint. Thank you!:)

Daniel,

Congrats on the new to you 40!

I will add you to the ACLC email list. You don't need to fill out any paperwork. Just show up at the next meeting....which is next Thursday - The Cove @ 7:00 p.m.

Jen

Jen,

Thank you for welcoming me! Also, thank you for adding me to the mailing list. You wouldn't happen to know of anyone in the local area trying to sell the above parts would you by chance? I'm looking forward to meeting you and everyone next Thursday.

Is the cove down by SAC? Just making sure that there isn't two coves in San Antonio. Thank you!

Tight lines,
Daniel

Bear80,

Thank you! It was a great deal for me at least but it was a awesome quad. The guy I traded with also had a 78 fj as his baby. I think he was just looking for a different toy.. As for painting, what would it run me? While spray can isn't a bad idea, I think having some spray acrylic enamel paint might be a better deal.. Do you know anything about wiring?? The po re wired with a painless kit and yesterday I paid a guy to come hook up the headlights and wipers but he obviously did something that is drawing power because now I'm having to jump the fj in order to get it started..

Thank you but I'm not sure what you mean by bezelus flippus plez??

Oh yea thank you! I have flipped it since I took those pics. I noticed it was upside down when taking these pics (first hour I had it). I also do like the white. I am thinking about having it repainted but thinking about changing colors. If i do have it repainted it'll prob a good ole Earl scheib job so I'm not so worried about scratches.. But then again it is Earl scheib so I should prob be worried about the paint job lol.. Know of any local painters/welders??

Hey nice 40 if your wanting to get that thing dirty or maybe some mild rock crawling let me know and I'll show you the spot. My name is Cody and I work at schertz auto service (www.schertzautoservice.com) our shop does both mechanical and body shop repairs but I work only on the mechanical side. I could ask a few guys if they are interested in side money cuz we don't do full resprays through the shop. are you wanting to weld in new quarters? a good respray is goin to cost you do to the details involved in painting a 40, lot of tear down and prep, but that all depends what you want to spend. We could work around your budget just let me know and I'll see if they are interested.

Cody,

Thanks for the compliments! That would be great if you could ask around. If there is anything that might help with reducing the cost that I could do that would be great. I'm pretty sure I need new quarter panels and rocker panels, but I'm not a body man so I'm not exactly sure what is needed. As for getting a lil muddy, email or call me the next time your headed to your spot! Always down for a fun time in the mud!
