I figured I would start this thread in the ONSC forum instead of the 80 Tech due to the fact that I hate most peoples comments out there. So here goes.

On November 24, 2012 I purchased my LOCKED, 1996 LX450 from another mud member (Burt88). When I got her,she was bone stock with 206740 miles on it. The PO kept all the service records, so I saw that the head gasket blew at 146,000 and was replaced at a Toyota dealership in Virginia. It had also been to Slee for a CDL switch and cup holder. Im not sure why the PO had the CDL switch installed considering it looked like it had never been off the paved road...

She has a couple problems that I need to address, nothing major at all. The air conditioning blows warm, the windows are slow, the antenna doesn't go up and down, and the left rear door speaker doesn't work.
The front seats are out of a 2003 LX470, so my next goal is to figure out how to wire up the heated seats.

After putting some 305/70R16 Firestone Destination M/T's on it I quickly found out I needed more ground clearance to have the fun I wanted to have at Uwharrie. So I acquired a 4 inch FOR lift kit from another mud member (krzyabncanuck). I also purchased the awesome IPOR skid plate, and some TrailGear sliders for a little added protection.

In the future, I have a lot of plans for this truck. I just need to win the lottery before I can do it all. I'm not sure what front bumper I want yet, one that is winch friendly. For the rear, i plan on throwing a 4x4 labs rear bumper on her. Id love to go more in the expedition direction, but still be Uwharrie capable. Meaning on board air, welder (need to learn to weld), roof top tent, fridge, etc...

Plan on updating this regularly while my baby gets bigger and better. I need a name for her since you guys all have named your rigs. Any suggestions? You all know how I like to wheel "aggressively".

Thanks to all that have helped me along the way.
Ryan

Your truck looks great Ryan!

I've been trying to find a name for my rig for months and still haven't come up with anything good... thought about Cougar since she's been around the block a few times and looks pretty good until you get under the hood. :D:D

With the 80's reliability in mind and your perhaps new-found appreciation for your noggin I'll throw out "Braintrust" as a suggestion. :flipoff2:

Haha cougar works!!!

Nice write-up Ryan!

Your truck has come a loong way in just 2 months. Looking good!!!

Glad the skid plate didn't fall off since I helped you with the install!

CDL could have been factory installed; well not sure about the LX's but it is in some and not in some 80s. Im guessing you got the reciept for both so maybe he was spinning at the boat ramp. LOL And that was one heck of a drive for a cupholder, been about 800 dollars cheaper just to ship it but no vacation ;)

nice work so far. Keep it up.

How ya like the front seats? got a pic. Seems i remember them being an inch wider than 80 seats. Do you have the cupholder on the side of the console? I think that is what it interfered with on another install i saw.

The truck is from VA. Receipt says their is a Slee is in VA... Idk.

The seats are very comfortable, they are definitely an inch wider. I'll post some pics of the clearance between them and the center console. The passenger seat touches the center console with the arm rest installed. If I can wire up the heated seats, thy will be 100% worth it.

Shoot and armrest bout makes it worth it alone. Have one on the drivers seat too?

yeah just giving you a hard time. No slee in VA. Only Iron Pig.
Christo's shop is in Golden, CO

Now get those sliders on......URE is around the corner.

That rig it nice in person.... I should have checked out the LX seats on Saturday.

FOR made a 4" lift??

I thought that they only made a 5" way back when and then the Gen II 3.5 before he called it quits.

Either way the truck looks and performs great.

If it went to VA it must have been Iron Pig that did the install but the parts were most likely bought from Slee

Maybe it was just a receipt for parts. Ill check again since I'm very confused now...

After 7 hours of measuring, cutting, welding, and grinding Mike and I got the sliders mounted. Took a few pics during the process.

I forgot to take a final, mounted picture. I'll do that tomorrow.

Jason, I'll also post some pics of the 100 seats.

"She" is coming along nicely...

Lights vs no lights?
If so
Square with cover vs round without cover
