I have been reading alot of stuff about rust and the 100. I would think that by now, these cars would not have a real rust problem because of alloys, etc. My 99 has not rust at all but I plan to drive it in the mountains alot this winter and move to a wet environment eventually. What can I do to prep it to keep it as protected as possible? Im hoping to keep it a long time.

Thanks,
Bill

3M Rustfighter. It is a wax coating that will penetrate down into all the tiny area's and seams that will hold water and allow the rust to begin. Vehicles rust from the inside out these days - they are designed to.... otherwise Toyota's would last indefinetly.

Looked at a 2000 LX470 6 months ago, that lived in Minn. for the 1st 4 years of its life. The entire bottom was rusted and fastners were corroded. It had 60K miles on it and the wholesaler wanted $32K for it. It was a beautiful black one with everything on it but I was not interested because of the rust and corrosion. I guess you shouldn't live in Minn. :)
