I have a couple of small rust spots on my 77 that I want to resolve soon. Can anyone tell me, based on the pictures, what the average cost to fix these spots would be?

There is a spot on the side of the roof (small/penetrating), 3 spots in the gutter, and 2 spots under the rear side windows (mostly surface).

I have replacement gutters from Toyota on hand. Just trying to see if i should shell out to fix this or start learning to weld!

imo it is worth learning to weld. It is amazing and fun. Grinding is not fun. Sanding is not fun either. Painting is ok but the fumes are nasty.
But overall doing the job yourself, well, is invaluable.

If I did it myself I would take one spot at a time so you are not out of commission for too long.

At a guess those rust spots would cost minimum $1000 aud for a good job, maybe more. Which you won't find out till next year or two if the rust comes back. Cheaper than that and they may take short cuts.

There is always more rust than what is visible. If you pay someone they have to remove the glass, strip and seek the rust, cut it out, weld patches, grind, blend, prime, seal, paint match, put glass back in.

I have done small successful repairs with epoxy resin and mesh, which is cheap but steel is best. For the welder, grinder, sanders, consumables, bog, primer, sealer and paint if starting from scratch, min $2000 to set yourself up..in hindsight, I would have gone tig right from the start, but my mig is ok, certainly for panel work.

Depends if you have time and will or, money. Totally ball park from photos on the internet.
