I just sold an 01 LC because of some rust and I wanted an 06+ for the new transmission and more power. Found an 07 470 for a decent price but I ran the carfax and it spent the first 10 years of its life in NY/NJ. I asked the seller about rust and they said “mostly surface rust”. I’d like to look at it but it’s 3 hours drive one way. Hate to get out there and be in a similar boat as my 01

Thoughts on if the rust pictured is anything to worry about? Can’t really tell if it’s been coated underneath, I didn’t think so.

Those pics are obviously showing good condition.

I can empathize with your situation as I am in the midst of the same thing… moving on from a rusty 100 that came from the east coast.

I was tempted to buy some other 100s that had spent time in same areas… similar “surface rust only” claims by sellers… but I kept looking and wound up with an LX that spent its entire life in Atlanta. It’s so clean underneath I could cry.

Thanks for all the replies, it had some rust on the AHC system it looks like but I think that was the worst of it. 07 with 180k miles no accidents, purchased this afternoon for 14.5k. Paint/body is in amazing shape.
