I looked a five different cruisers yesterday and one had an interesting spot of cancer that i thought i would ask the body here to evaluate. sorry i didn't think to take pics. the left corner of the roof above the driver and where the windshield meets the roof had pretty bad cancer. overall the truck was a clean example and had been taken care at the mother dealership. it was a 2000 lx 470 with aprox 150k. what would cause this rust???

Sounds like a shoddy windshield replacement.
The PO on mine took it to a shop that didn't know how to do these and they didn't seal it right. There was some surface rust starting on the passenger side that could only been seen with the windshield off. It was easily repairable. Luckily.
Any other signs of a crappy windshield job (seals, molding, other rust)? Water damage or leaks in the inside on the A-pillar? Another sanity check may be to get the windshield wet (or wash it) and check for obvious leaks/problem areas.
Bad cancer on the body is probably enough to continue your search elsewhere.
