Sorry for the continuing quesitons - I was going to order up a set of the russell bleeders for my rig, and they don't list Caddy or Eldorado on the site. Does anyone know the Specifications for the bleeders? I tried using a super crappy caliper I have, but didn't get any useful results (measured at 7.124mm or 9/32nd of an inch in diameter).

Thanks in advance

Jack

p.s. Installed the 4runner calipers, and re-bled the system, and it is still super mushy. The 80 series MC arrives next week, so I am going to re-blead, and then remove the rear El Dorado calipers for their bleading. I have read posts (on a mustang site) where if the El Dorado bleader isnt fully straight up, you will not get all of the air out of the system....

When you say "I tried using a super crappy caliper I have, but didn't get any useful results", do you mean you have a spare caliper & are trying to match the thread pitch of its bleeder?

If so, take the bleeder to a hardware store that has metric hardware & try fitting it to both metric & SAE nuts. The threads are slightly smaller than the size. One clue is the thread pitch - measure 4-5 threads on the metric scale of your calipers (assuming that's how you're getting 7.124mm) - if you get 5mm holding the tips on threads 1 through 5 (4 threads), it's 1.25 metric pitch & therefore metric. If you get .187" on the SAE scale, it's 24 pitch.

You can feel the fit of the proper nut - it'll thread on all the way & won't be loose or wobbly.

Don't forget that Russell can't solve the problem of GM placing the bleeder hole in a less-than-perfect spot on the caliper. Evidently you need flex lines on the calipers so you can remove them & hold the bleeder vertical to cause the air to rise to the top. Remember to put a block of wood between the pads (good idea to force the piston in all the way - I use a c-clamp against a block of wood or an old pad) or you'll be forcing the piston closed after the bleeding episode.

The caliper I was talking about was a measurement device, not a spare brake caliper...

After much reading lastnight, it is clear that you need to bleed the Eldo calipers by removing them...I do have SS lines, so this should be easier.

I am going to call up TSM tomorrow, and see if they know the specs on the bleed screw.

Thanks

Well, I called the russell technical support folks - great to deal with!

They say that the bleeders are 10mmx1.5pitch and 1 3/32nd long. Part number 639580.

I ordered a set, we will see if it works. I will post if it doesnt.
