One more Rubithon article from the May 1991 4WD Action magazine. The front of my 40 shows up on page 5 of the article...There is also a review of the new for '91 FJ80 from the same edition if anyone is interested...

Geees, I have some 70's Four Wheeler mag's that belonged to my grandfather in-law. I see the differance in the Con' and alot of other trails in the U.S.. The good o'll days will never be forgotten or lost in this family. Great pic's and article

That's a good pic of Daryl Butler's 40 with the diamond plate grill on Pg 2. Daryl was a retired railroad engineer with WAY too much time on his hands when he started on his project.

He built his rock sliders out of 2" by .125 wall tubing that doubled as his exhaust!

He fabbed a full height, single piece lift up hatchback for the rear, with a power window that slided up and down!

And then there was that overhead console that he cracked his noggin on at the Thanksgiving Run in Lone Pine!

Wow that brings back memories. I am on pg 4 bottom right .
38s spring under stock 4spd. Rubithon was held in dirty dozen camp.
I wonder what ever happened to John & Melissa Fulton? Darrell Buttlers futureistic looking 40 was cool.
Mike Bennett still shows up every year. We carried in 100 steaks that year.
Thanks for the trip down memorie lane.
Gary
