Alright! Just finished washing and conditioning the leather on the rig. So its time to post!

For those of you who don't know, Rubithon is a TLCA event that happens every year. People Sign up to go in from Loon Lake on different "runs" or just come down cadillac hill for the festivities.

This year my Dad volunteered to lead the Wagon Run. Traditionally this run is signed up for by wagon cruisers, 55s 60s 80s ect. And becasue I was related to the leader this year I got roped into being on the committee.

This year I drove my 80, again. But this time I had twice as many people in it, four including myself. In addition last year was a Tuesday-Sunday event, This year was a Saturday-Sunday event. The extra time and weight was very noticeable in the rig.

The adventure began on Saturday. We left Reno, and eventually got to Loon Lake. The goal Was to meet up with the gang and go in past gate keeper. That never happened. Andy blew a smog pump coming up from Sacramento and had to turn around and go grad his 80. And the rest of the crew was just late, showing up at 5pm. So we camped on the first slab on the trail.

Sunday we woke up without a hurry and hit the trail at 9:30. Got halfway through gatekeeper and had to move aside for a group on 60 jeeps going out. We were told there were 100 more rigs coming out behind then. So we finished up gatekeeper and went down and up the bowl before getting hit by another huge group. We were in for a long day. We reached buck at 7pm.

Monday came and we again rose slowly. The only goal was to hike to the springs from buck, to see how effed up if was for wagons. And boy was it effed. We moved a ton of Rock.

Tuesday came and it was time to go from Buck back out to loon, In order to pick up the wagon run participants on Wednesday morning. So we left dads 60 at buck and took our two 80s back out. We made good time with no traffic at all.

This is almost at the top of the slabs leaving Buck. My back tires are not even close to climbing yet. I had to try this one again, and Bump it.

Alright, Its Wednesday morning and the start of the wagon Run. Destination for the day is Buck Island.
We have around 12 rigs and I am the trail leader for the day. As expected it was a longish day. I pulled into Buck at 4pm with only three rigs right behind me. Things got interesting right before descending the slabs int o buck.

The first event was this 80 not starting. I told this rig to wait as I blasted through the last rock garden before the outhouse up there. So I got to the other end and walked back to find this rig acting weird. It would start by rev high couple times and kill itself. After about 45 minutes we found the problem. Wire between alternator and battery was fried. It took awhile to diagnose becasue it looked intacked, but apon manipulation it disintegrated.

While all the diagnosing on that 80 was happening I was spotting the group around it on a harder line. This 4runner above did great. The 2015 on the other hand had a lot of trouble.

Can you say Turtle?

So after that we could start down the slabs. And we did with success...but not without incident.

This rig had a clutch push instead of a break push. That big rock stopped it. I did not witness it, but there is video. It was nasty. This is a really steep spot. the is a picture on my rig climbing it in my first post.

All rigs made it in my 6pm to buck. The black 4runner above sheered some knuckle studs. Fixed in camp.

Thursday comes around and we push on for the Springs. It was another slow day, was about 3 when we all made it into camp.
I drove almost the whole day in 2wd or 3wd if my locker was on. The broken birf wasn't figured out till I was 100 yards from the big tree in the middle of the trail. I have no idea where I broke it, it made no sound when it happened and afterwards driving down the trail.

Inner axle seal was gone so I did a full knuckle rebuild and put in the camp spare (short side RCV axle and birf) in.
It was not easy, I set the axle too far in and we had to get clever to pull it out, ask me how we did that at a campfire near you.
AND I broke a hub stud right at the end, Like WTF!!!

Wow what a trip. You got the whole rubicon experience! Way to get the wagons thru with no sheet metal carnage:deadhorse:-you need a shoe horn on that one place in Big Sluice(or a ton of stacking). Great pictures or the trip. That one of you and Noria at observation point is great, you look rested. You could use that on your wedding invitations.

Anyway nice trip and picture write up. Some great memories right there. Thanks for sharing. Next year I'll be there.:cookie:
