Rubicon / Fordice August 2016

Time to plan next year's outings. We ran the Rubicon in 2013 with my cousin who has a 40 and lives in Northern CA and it was a blast.

We are in the planning stages of another run in early August 2016, this time Rubicon and Fordice on the same trip.

Its a solid two day drive out and the same back, so planning on a Saturday departure, Monday thru Thursday trails and Friday heading back.

Just throwing this out there to anyone who is interested. Great time of year for the trip and hitting the trails weekdays means no traffic. In '13 we only ran into two jeep groups on the entire run.

What a great trip!!! I wish I could join, but July is the Alaska Cruiser Trek and I plan on that being the epic trip for next year (and likely years to come).

Perry, Why not do Rubithon with Georg and convince him to run Fordyce after the event? That was my original plan when we did the 25th in 2013.

Heather, there is a guy in the Houston chapter who ran that trip. I was hoping to do that one as well, talking to him definitely made me have second thoughts enough where I never tried to make the time to do it. I can't remember his name, he wheels a SAS 100 series. If you talk to Patrick (Scotia on the board) he can get you in touch.

Perry, we were possibly looking at doing a Rubicon trip earlier in the year. possibly May-ish?

I need to do the trip when school is out, plus in May you may still have significant snow on the trail.

There is a Cal 4wd run around that time in August, but I really enjoyed having the trails basically to ourselves. Prefer to make this a non event run. Will definitely see if the Valley Hybrid crew is interested in anytime around then.

Your 40 with the 5.3 conversion
And the mini after some bed mods to relocate the propane tanks
