For a while now, the red light at the battery gauge has been on. The other night i left my radio on for a while. (Not longer than i have left my previous grand cherokee's radio on). I had to jump start the cruiser that night to get it to the parking lot, and it jump started fine, and moved the 100 feet to the parking lot. The next morning it was dead again, so i had it jump started again; But this time as soon as i unhooked the cruiser from the other car jumping mine, it bogged down and turned off. It couldnt be just because my battery is very dead could it? (I bought this battery about 2 months ago). I was thinking the alternator was bad. The battery now reads 3.68V on my multimeter... I'm on my way to buy a battery charger... Waste of money?

any help is appreciated

With it bogging down as soon as you took the cables off it tells me the alt / voltage reg is bad. There was not enough in the battery to keep it running longer.

Again just my .02 cents.

x2 That would be my guess also, If you have to buy a new alt. dont buy an aftermarket one, My 80 came with one on it and it really sucks, I took the truck for a pre purchase inspection and the alt. tested bad and the po had just replaced it a couple of months prior. I may be wrong but I think that Auto Zone or Advance will test youre alt. for free if you can get the truck there.
