Anyone know the status of Mengel Pass? I know the recent storms may have wreaked havoc.

Thanks, guys

I'm wondering if it's pretty torn up at the summit. A buddy is thinking of going thru with his crew cab full sized Cheby

Which way Kevin. West to East, E to W, or both.

Last time we went thru, W to E was ok, but I could see where going E to W would get kind of sketchy for a bigger rig the last mile before the summit.

Best

Mark A.

Don't know which way he's planning on going. Last time we went E to W it was kinda sketchy in the pig. How long since you were there?

I'm thinking it was a couple of years now, but recent enough to have seen the fire damage at Barker.

From what I can tell, that area got a lot of precipitation. Over 2 feet of snow on Porter Peak, and the Amargosa River is raging (such as it is).

Good luck.

Raging? Amargosa? Isn't that an oxymoron?

;p

Kevin, Jeff's right. Considering what happened to South Pass over the summer, I wouldn't doubt that this storm took a chalk board eraser to that whole area.

Maybe I should go check it out in Ruftoys.

Who knows what actually happened. Keep going until you can't.

Just in 28th and out 29 Warm Springs road from the east to Butte Valley stayed at Stella's the Amargosa River still high gate closed on the south-end near Ashford Mill a 75-mile detour you can get around on the West side road 6 miles from Furnace Creek road is mostly dry.

We talked some (4) old range rover guys staying at Geologist cabin, a stock 100 series and a stock Rubicon that came over Mengel pass. just before the Dec 29th storm did not see any problem.
