Quick recap on where I'm at - after much sweat and some blood and tears, got the rear shocks out (with angle grinder cutoff wheels) and as of yesterday had gotten the rear passenger side shock and spring in.
Tonight after playing around with axle positions finally got the rear driver side spring and shock in and after more finagling got the sway bar link back together.
Next up - got the front shocks out with a sawzall - less painful than I expected. That is, assuming these upcoming pictures aren't problematic...
Concern #1 - on the passenger side when I made the final cut on the ahc bracket and it separated, the hub dropped about 1/4" and I saw this (see picture below), but didn't look like an electrical or brake or other line - what is it, is this normal or did I break something?! I did have a jack stand about 1/4" under the hub that's why I'm pretty sure it wasn't crazy like an inch drop or anything.
Concern #2 - when I started to attempt putting the front shock in, I immediately noticed how far the shock top was from the top mounting bracket!! I tried to jack up the lower control arm as high as it would go (until the body moved up with it) but the shock still was nowhere near the top of the mount to get it connected. Do I need to undo the stabilizer bar link, or back off the TB adjusting bolt? I still have the thinner LX470 TBs in, figured I'd get the shock replaced then take care of the TB. The shock part number is 48511-60492 which looks to be correct.
Any help on either problem is much appreciated!!!
Thanks!
