Trying to do the water pump and no matter what I try I can't get the Fan / Clutch nuts to spin, all I seem to be doing is rounding them off. I can't get a box wrench in there and the flare nut wrench seems to be doing the most damage. Anybody have a hint? I looked at 4 places for a 12mm box wrench that has a thin depth but can't find it.

Can't help with the 80 specific knowledge, but I have taken a grinder to wrenches before to make em fit in this scenario...

You still close to me in Gilbert? We can put our heads together with some:beer: and figure it out...

The best thing for those nuts is the ratcheting box wrenches that have the closed 6 point end that ratchets....wouldn't think of doing that job without them!!!! worth weight in gold

I'm in Chandler at Germann and Alma School. PM with your number again and I'll call tomorrow. Thanks!

IIRC the 3FE clutch hub is shorter, so less room to fit a box end over the nuts than the 1FZ clutch.

Exactly the problem. I also think I'm dealing with too many turns on the nuts in their lifetime and that they're probably rusted at this point from the pump leaking. I've been shooting PB to no avail.

Mine were so rusted I had to Dremel them off on my 80. Hope yours aren't in that boat, and you're just fighting trying to get a grip on them...

Thanks to Josh and his grinder we got the 12mm box in there and they came right off. Wow...everything has to come off this thing before the pump comes off. Now to get everything back on! Just waiting to get that hidden radiator hose now that it's out in the "open" ;-)
