Hello all,

I'm looking into restoring my 81 BJ44 with a little surface rust. I am not looking to make it into a show truck. I want to make it the most rust resistant and durable truck out there. I need to know the best method to take all of the paint and rust off of the frame and body, and even the small parts.

Is Blasting better than Dipping? Can you dip the body and frame in primer to make sure it gets everywhere? What is the absolute best primer/sealer to use to make sure to kill any chance of rust? What is the most durable paint to use? What is the story behind 'marine' grade paint?

Lastly, I am in colorado.... Can anyone recommend a good blaster/dipper in the state? I'm okay with dismantling the truck, I just want the best cleaning and painting job I can get.

Thanks!

Kraig

Call around for a Place that can do Soda Blasting. I saw a TLC show when they did it, it looked beautiful and its an easy clean-up.

I have heard many people on here that do POR 15 or Rust Bullet for coating the Frame.

You should post up on the Rising Sun site. Most of the folks are from the Denver area and might know a few places down there.
