Getting to know the new Land Cruiser (2006). Haven't driven it other than the drive home. Left sitting overnight and through the day yesterday. Went out to start yesterday evening and it revved to 2000 rpm and held there for what seemed like a long time. It eventually idled down to 900 rpm, but it seemed to take a long time to do so. Is a high idle at cold start for extended time normal?

Been pushing buttons to see if everything works properly. Pushed the RSCA button and it felt dead (no indicator lights, no actuation sound, and did not remain recessed to suggest it did anything). I understand this to be the side curtain airbags so I would like to ensure they work. Should there be an indication this button is actuated when pushed?

Starting to realize why an online vehicle purchase is not a good idea, even when buying from a "reputable" Lexus dealership :bang:.

Most of my observations thus far have been cosmetic in nature. I am sure more questions are to come as I continue to check things out, particularly the mechanics. Hope yall do not mind.

Thanks for the help.

Yes, RSCA just turns them off (still work from impact) if you're driving off camber a lot. Have to hold 1 second so you don't accidentally turn them off/on. The cold idle seems a bit high. I'd have it checked out or perhaps start by resetting the ecu. Disconnect battery. Reconnect and let idle a while. May not help, but it's free!

Still noticing the high idle at start up. It revs to 2000 rpm initially, then settles to 1500 rpm and holds there for about 2 to 3 minutes, after which it drops to 1000 rpm. I figured there is a cold start high idle, but am concerned about shifting into gear at 1500 rpm or higher. Is this the normal start idle at cold start?
