Go outside drive her to normal temp come to a stop, put it in neutral and pump the breaks, see if it stumbles. If so you may have a leak in the break vacuum line or a vacuum leak in the booster itself.

Also see if you can get the breaks to lock up if you slam them, if not (cause ABS wasnt an option) this is another break problem indicator

I just discovered the same thing this week with my 88, explains how the PO of my ride rear ended someone on the inner state.

Be sure and check for diagnostic codes. If you have any, it can help point you in the right direction. I had a code 51 once I put the computer in diagnostic mode which was solved with a TPS adjustment, but my idle was high. There was no indication that I had an error code until I installed the jumper wire. The check engine light was behaving normally until I installed the wire.

ok...so i got it to warm temp .......pumped the brakes and no change in idle.........sounds like next step is to check for codes....i will try to do that in next few days and see if i get anything

never checked codes, but found hose on flow meter side that was not the correct one and was jimmy-rigged. replaced it with oem and runs like a stinkin charm now!!
