Santa brought me 4 - brand new 2 gal RotoPax fuel tanks. Little did santa know I was going to find a factory sub fuel tank and filler neck. My plan was to build a swing down rack where the spare goes to hold the 4 RotoPax tanks given me 8 extra gallons for emergency use. They are a perfect fit under the 80 for someone doing the same. PM me if one or all of them would work for your project. I also have the clips to hold 2 together.

Timing is bad for me but I'm on the same wavelength concerning where to put these. Do you have any firm ideas on the swing down assembly you can share?

I try to think simple...two together fit perfect tight against to body underside. Requires 6.5" with two stacked atop of each other. Fab a basket to set them in with a rear pivot on the frame rails. With the basket pulled up it could be secured with a tab and a lock.

My plan was to build the basket using the same display rack used in my rear build out and attic rack9pictured). Plenty strong and light weight made it a perfect choice in my eyes.

I see, that's a good approach. I originally considered repurposing the spare tire mechanism to raise and lower a cage but I need to crawl under there and stare at it for a while to get inspired.

I can see how that would work fine. I just wanted to be as tight as possible and up out of the way. It was more a back up for me. I dont see myself needing to access it very often.
