Here she is!
1983 (Build date 9/82) FJ45 Troop Carrier
Right Hand Drive (OZ Import)
2F Petrol 6 Cylinder, Dual Fuel Conversion with Propane
H41 Four Speed Trans
Fairey Overdrive
Old Man Emu Light/Medium Suspension (Thanks Kurt @ Cruiser Outfitters!)
295/75R16 BF Goodrich All-Terrains on American Racing Chambers wheels. The tires are a low glass compound made by BFG for Expeditions West and used on his Arctic Circle Expedition in 2007. Great tires!
I picked her up in October of 2007, and have slowly but surely been upgrading/modding her for my family overlanding vehicle. Some light rust repair, followed by an upgrade of the seating to Bestop Trailmax Pro Thermal (Heated) front seats, and a Trailmax folding seat for the rear were installed, along with a nice moulded SOR carpet kit.
With minimal prep, a 2000+ mile trip through the Copper Canyon area of Mexico proved the worth of the original, no-nonsense color and style of the Troopy, as it performed flawlessly over some of the roughest roads, many of which were not on any maps; only known to locals and drug runners. The trip report is here:

Since then, the batteries have been upgraded to Sears Platinum Series (Odyssey rebadged), windows have been tinted, and color matched paint used to complete the exterior.
I found that I like the less than perfect paint, as it attracts the right attention, and doesn't necessarily look like it would contain a bunch of gear, radios, etc....so the exterior will remain simple....
Next mods are a 20 gallon ARB Flexi Tank water tank, 2m/70cm Yaesu Radio, custom cargo barrier, rear cargo floor and some electrical clean up under the hood.
The whole build up process can be followed here:
