I grew up with Toyota's in my blood. My uncle used to race dirt track Celica's and specialized in Toyota repairs. I had a few 2WD mini's along the way, but never got into the 4WD thing, even though I grew up about an hour from Tellico.
Fast forward 14 years, and I was autocrossing a miata and driving a RCSB Chevy. With our first child on the way, and realizing that my wife's car was the only one that would carry us all (not to mention the 2 minutes of driving in 8 hours of autocrossing). I sold the miata and found my 87 FJ60 and I've never regretted the decision.
I searched high and low for a good clean FJ60 that I wouldn't need to mortgage the house to purchase. What I found was the following:
1987 FJ60
201,xxx miles
rebuilt transfer case, new radiator, water pump, t-stat neck, brand new Toyota carb, recently rebuilt knuckles
OME 3" Dakar lift (med front, heavy rear)
33x10.50R15 BFG All-Terrains on stock rims
Yakima racks w/ Bicycle trays
Stock interior minus Pioneer stereo/speakers
All Toyota FSMs and a Haynes
2 folders full of receipts, work done mostly at ATL toyota dealer (can't remember name) and Urban Land Cruisers
MINIMAL RUST!!! small amounts on gutter edge and a small spot on the pass side wheelwell FRAME is excellent, rockers and quarters as well.
After the initial purchase, I've done some driveability improvements, new tires, winch, and sliders, but mostly just enjoyed having a capable truck that can handle anything I want to do with it. Not to mention I've met some remarkable people in Upstate Cruisers, and across the southeast. Everyone I've gone wheeling with has been impressed with what this truck can do, but none more than me. Seems to surprise me everytime we go out. Can't wait to see where the truck will take us next... Now onto the pictures (I'll try to get these in chronological order - more too come in the next few days)

OTMT 2008 - First wheeling trip (Tellico)

MLK Run 2009 (Gulches ORV Park)
New wheels and tires (265/75R16 KM2's on 16x7 Tacoma wheels with 1.5" spacers) - needs a little more lift...
OTMT 2009 (Coal Creek OHV Park, TN)
Following the 2 locked 80s on 4" lift and 35's... Came out unscathed, pretty sweet!
I went up that ledge to start the day, unlocked and didn't pull cable.
