Anyone know where I can pick up the 5w 40 Rotella? I wasn't even paying attention...(kids) and picked up the 15w 40 triple protection...too bad my Freightliner is in the shop:doh: saw the Rotella and just threw it in the cart. I've never used it so I wasn't looking for the blue jug.

I guess while I'm at it how does the 5w40 do here in the valley?

I've been noticing more start up chain rattle in the cold, is there an easy fix? I have wondered if the issue was oil and not chain slop from too many miles. Probably just wishful thinking....

Had a large oil filter, swapped to the small filter greatly reduced it, at the next oil change switched to Mobil 1 15W-50 and it's rare to hear it at all.

I use the 15w-50 mobil 1 stuff with the large mobil 1 filter and have no chain rattle. I am now using the 15w-50 on both the FJ and the 80 and Castrol 10w-60 on the M3.

Do you recommend the Toyota filter?? Hopefully not the 20004. I will try the synthetic on the next change.

I prefer Purolator Pure One or one of the Wix branded.

can someone explain the difference between the "diesel" (rotella) oil and the same viscosity of "gasoline" oil?

Don't have the part # for the filter handy, I just look it up in the book when buying.

The Rotella the I have run is diesel & gas rated, comes in the blue gallon jugs.

Do you have the Pure One #?

Purolator Pure One is what I use. Purolator's online product guide says PL30001 for your engine. I've used both PL30001 and PL10241, as the catalog in the parts shop says either are applicable for my year - they have the same threads and o-ring seating areas.

PL10241 is smaller (in both height and outer diameter) than PL30001, so I'd assume you could use PL10241 too.
