Roof weight capacity? Not the rack, the ribbed area.

I'm sure it's been answered, but it's tough to find it by searching, with all the RTT and rack threads. The roof has ribs on it, so I figured I could load some sort of weight on it, I'm just not sure how much is too much. I'm thinking about getting one of those roof top cargo bags for lighter items like clothing, bedding/sleeping bags, etc. for family camping trips. But it would be nice to have the option to put some heavier items up there (like cooking gear).

Not much. The roof might hold a loaded bag, but a good speed bump can dent the surface from the load shifting. The area in the center of the roof will also be weaker than toward the pillars. I would use caution putting anything on a bare roof. I dented the roof of my Tacoma with a Yakima soft bag once, fortunately I could slam it back by hitting the headliner. I had maybe 50lbs total of soft goods. With pillows and sleeping bags you might be alright.

You probably don't want to put anything on the ribbed portion of the roof. Put all of the weight onto the load bars.

Maybe cut-up some ATV ramps or something and mimic this idea.
