One of the roof supports in my 60 had come un-attached from the roof. I pulled the support down and it looks like it was a black double side tape.

Any idea what it was? or what I can use?

I really don't want to use double sided tape to have it fall down 2 months after putting the headliner back in. I have it all cleaned up, but wondering what to use...

I might be there to stop the roof panel from rattling..? I looked at the factory parts book, there was no reference to anything between the support and roof panel. Were there 4 bolts holding up?

That's what I am thinking too. There were 4 bolts, two on each side of the support.

The front one support is actually "attached" to the roof, meaning the tape is stuck the support and the roof. I don't think the intent is to keep them together, but to keep it from bouncing and making noise.

What about using a two part epoxy? It is cheap and will keep them together and won't heat up and melt?

I could not open the link, but look deeper for someting called automotive "panel tape". It may not have been used on your truck (age), but it is used to bond body panels to one another. Really strong stuff (obviously). May be spendy. Check with your Auto Paint supplier too.....
