I’m lazy tonight. What years did they mount visors to the fiberglass cap?

Every year had it to allow mounting/sealing to the windshield frame, although they changed over the years with the different style hardtop and windshield wiper configurations.

Yeah visors. As thebigredrocker points out I think it’s the roof windshield attach mounts that are riveted to the cap not sun visors.

People call that part a visor

I don’t know but mine is a 1982.
I just finished washing the car, which means I'm looking at stuff that upsets me for the body work that was done earlier this year. If you look at the pictures you can see where the door rides hard against the windshield frame. It also rubbed at the back edge of the door to the right side panel. There is a picture showing one bolt holding the valance to the windshield frame, and one that has not been installed and there does not appear to be a weld nut there either to fasten it to. You can see that the windshield frame is far from parallel to the door edge. My point is that the windshield frame, side panels and rear brace should be in position. The doors should be checked and adjusted to some kind of even light all around, before weatherstripping. The valance can then be positioned to a correctly positioned windshield frame, bolted up and riveted and then finished off.

Do any of you use a seal or gasket between this visor and the windshield? Putting the fiberglass cap back on after restoring it, and there's good 1/4 inch gap.

There is a stock gasket for this location. See

My apologies, I wasn't very clear. I have the gasket that goes on the top of windshield frame. I am referring to the vertical surface that the visor bolts into and the windshield wipers come out of. I have never seen a gasket/seal for that. wondering if anyone uses something or just bolts the top (visor) straight the windshield frame. Only asking as there is a small gap that I'm having trouble reconciling. Thanks!

I replaced windshield base cushion seal this summer, so I'm wondering if that might be the issue with the gap.

Yep. Gonna give that a try. Bolt it down to the windshield and then just hopefully push it forward to bolt it to the sides.

What are these called? I think I'm missing one of these. There is a gap between my door and the roof. There are 3 holes like something is supposed to be there, but not sure what it is?
Hey Devil Dog,

Im not sure what the technical name is.... I just call them roof pieces over the door.....

There is a pretty sizeable gap in that area under normal circumstances

Post up a picture and lets see what you got.... you could just be missing the screws...

I believe they are called "Door Bow's" Inner and Outer. The outer one is the one I seem to missing. I'll get pics.
