I'm building a roof rack that I would like to clamp down to my Yakima cross bars. Anybody know where to find any good clamps that would accomplish the job?

Thanks!

How about u-bolts? Standard hardware store item...

Well two good recommendations but looks like Conferr is out of business...

Somebody took over their product line though... do a search and it will pull up. There was recently a thread about it in chat IIRC

yes Off Road unlimited sells the roof racks and clamps

I welded 4 tabs and used simple $1.00 u bolts at the hardware store for a full size rack mounted to yakima bars. Hope it helps.. I have done it twice now, works great...

Roofrack brackets

We in the Rising Sun club of Colorado did a group buy of these mounts. We still have 3 sets of 6 clamps left. Check this out if you are interested:

I think you are asking how to attach it to your exsisting bars? If so here you go:

I have put a lot of weight on these and they hold up very well.

I used 1 3/8"w x 2 1/2"l U-bolts to connect my rack to my yakima bars. cost $1.30 each and I just painted them black. looks really good also:cool:

X86 on U-bolts.

If you want to ditch those, then yeah, go with the con-ferr towers from O.R.U.
