During the recent East Coast snow I had the opportunity to make an observation for those of you still looking for the TRD 17" Rock Warriors for your 100's.

They pack with ice worse than any wheel I've ever used.

I realize that a simulated bead lock ring will gather some ice and slush, but the combination of rings and spoke pattern led me to have to periodically stop the Cruiser and clear out the accumulated ice. The wheel would shake violently at speeds over 30mph on dry roadways from the resulting imbalance. No other wheel sets I've owned have done this before.

Has anyone else experienced the same thing on their vehicle?

Drive faster so that the snow doesn't accumulate in there? Or use lasers to melt the ice.

Haha, I appreciate the humor. I realize that at first it might sound like complaining, I just wanted to place this thread as a reference to those who were considering this wheel as a modification.

Regarding nonstick sprays, well I'd like to keep those away from my brakes and the reality is they'd be their own mess.

As for driving faster, I was worried enough for my steering rack at 40... The problem is that the spike shape and rings gather ice which locks around them.

I don't live in the snow areas but I took my rings off and the wheel still looks great.

This is my second winter with my Rock Warriors but I've yet to experience the symptoms you're describing. In Boston, we had over 100" of snow last winter so we definitely put it to the test. I wonder if your experience is an outlier considering how many of us are running RW's and this is the first I've heard of it.

Can I deduce from this thread that the Rock Warriors with KO2s are plug-n-play on the 100? They are on the 200, but thought there might be an offset issue on the 100. First world problem, but would be nice to keep street centric tires on both 100 and 200, and just put the RWs on when I actually expect to get on dirt.

No, you need a 10mm spacer in the front for the Rock Warriors, otherwise the faces will not mate and you will be riding on the wheel studs. I have Rock Warriors and KO2s (285 70/r17) and I get rubbing in the front, but only when turning right. I have a LX470 with AHC, when the suspension is in the high position I get no rubbing.
