Hey I've been looking at sliders for my 01' Tacoma, and I've been looking at the All-pro sliders, but i dont like how they have brackets to the frame, I would rather have a square bar that would help protect the body of my truck, I've looked also at Slee offroad's sliders, but I'd rather not spend over $600 on sliders, any recommendations? Any help would be great.

weld gussets and square the mounting point

I love my All Pro Offroad sliders and have had them on 2 Runners now-2nd and 3rd gens.

Simply have them welded on. They can provide gussets for extra mount strength. Others have used a diamond pattern attachment
plate to spread the round attachment point over a wider area.

Some folks love the bolt on idea and have swapped sliders from one vehicle to another. Mine just recently saved my drivers side panelwork from extensive boulder damage. Personally I would not offroad without ALL PRO OFFROAD sliders welded into place.
 
I would advise against both Trail Gear & All-Pro. I don't like either one of those sliders...

I would recommend Demello or 4xInnovations or Slee.

I have been running Demello HD Round Bolt-Ons for about 5 years now, and I can tell you that you really do get what you pay for! I can't say enough good things about them. But if I didn't have Demello - I'd get 4xInnovations. No question about it.

You have Demello and have tested them (5 years! abuse = great product!) so I can see your bias to them but, why would you advise against Trail-Gear & All Pro?

Is this an opinion or have you seen them (Trail-Gear or All Pro) fail or be inferior in other regards?

I don't know that Demello, Slee, 4x innovations, Trail-Gear or All Pro are superior or inferior in design or materials but I haven't seen them in action. Some designs are more appealing or provide extra protection - have we had a "shoot out" between these sliders to establish a "winner?"

Real world input is always appreciated! :D

I have had real world experience with Demello, and 4xInnovations stuff. I can talk about those products until I'm blue in the face, and tell you whatever you want to know!

I believe that 4xInnovations is the absolute best slider at the most reasonable price (Demello slider's can't be killed, but are expensive). 4xI's craftsmanship is every bit as good as Demello, and 4xI offers a bit of a different style. 4xI sliders are DOM, american made, and built by hand.

Trail Gear is outsourced Chinese-made CRAP! Their sliders are a very basic design, made out of weak materials, made in China.

I just don't like All-Pro's sliders. It's just a personal preference. I've seen them up close. I've wheeled with trucks that have them. I don't have any first-hand negative experience with them. I just think they look cheap, and wouldn't want them on my truck...

Good input that I wasn't aware of.

My sliders (Trail Gear) won't see a lot of rocks but they should keep stumps and trees off my truck here in Missouri. I got them for the price & since I knew their future and could weld that is how I based my selection - I did not know they could have been made in China! :eek:

That is what I like about this forum, there is always something to learn from someone'e experience.
 
I did a little searching and all I found for sliders in the way of attachment is welding or a bracket bolting system around the frame. Does anyone make one that bolts into existing holes on a 2004 Taco?
