Trying to figure out a way to get a 1946 Jeep CJ-2A from Madison, MS to Gulf Shores, Al this wknd. Problem is- no tow vehicle, no trailer. Anyone coming this way this wknd with an empty trailer? :)

Seriously, though- I think I will rent a uhaul one-way and borrow my bro-n-law's 1997 Explorer (gotta figure out how to get around Uhuaul's no-explorer policy!)

I will be in Starkville or else I would love to trade a fishing trip for a Jeep transport. You can borrow my 250 to go pick up the Uhaul then switch to the Explorer for the ride home.

Bout burned up my old exploder pulling my 40 from Starkvegas to Jacktown years ago. The u-haul trailer is half the problem. They are really heavy trailers. See if you can borrow a trailer down there.

You are right about the uhaul trailers. I am going to try to find one down this way. Last thing I need is to have to replace a tranny on an exploder that's a POS in the first place.

Jeez. I always understood uHaul trailers to be lighter than standard dove tail car haulers because they aluminum... they're heavier? Well blow me down.

I don't think they aluminum. Prolly galvinized.

I went and looked at one yesterday. Galvanized and they weigh 2100 lbs.

I decided to rent a 16' Penske truck and trailer and drive it up and back. $277 plus fuel, but it beats replacing someone's tranny I suppose. It did occur to me to figure out a way to drive it into a cargo truck via loading dock, but finding one down here at the beach would be challenging.
