Rusty told me to post this up. I guess Sunday when he and some friends went up through the same trail the club took New Years he ran into a ranger. He told the guys that the trail will soon be closed they are just awaiting signs and fences. Too many people were getting in for free so they want to block it off. He isn't sure exactly where they are going to start fencing it off but just a heads up.

When I see this, I will believe it. The only spot you go into the Park is close to the top. In fact, my map shows that the quail flat area is in the Forest. There is a spot on the road where you go into the park for for a couple of hundred yards but then go back into the Forest. I have never seen a person getting a ticket for the crossing the road (no law being broken) and I have spoken with many Rangers up there who knew I came up through Eshom Valley Road. It will be interesting how this plays out.

Figures they would try that! When I worked for the FS (YEARS AGO) all we had to do was give them a place in the forest you were going and as long as you didn't stop in the park it was cool. If you stopped they charged you, simpler days!!

This is a public road. I would think that they would have to set up a station to charge for that 100 yards, or so, of park land we travel through. Ill ask my brother, he works for the forest service.

if its true thats bs. if the rangers want to set up a pay booth go ahead-but dont close a trail cause your government agency hasn't figured out a way to charge a use fee.

if there was a way to tax breathing and sex the feds would impliment that too.

Your already being taxed by your wife so they can't double tax you by the feds. (I don't mean taxed in a good way)
