The River Shiver is fast approaching and we have been out doing some scouting of potential trails for the event. We always have a short list of trails we would like to run but the weather can turn an easy trail into a double locker in quick order.

We also had a considerable wind event in the fall and many of the trails are passable only after a magor logging operation. A few weeks ago a group of us cleared about 20 trees that had fallen across a trail in a matter of several hundred meters (yards). Upside, easy pickins for firewood.

Sunday myself in a '78 fj45, Wayne (crushers on mud) in his '90 lj78 and Herb in has fj80 with a turboed 1hz hit a few trails to assess their condition.

The temps were warm and the snow just deep enough to be challenging.

Still more, I took 16 in total. Of course this hill is much stepper than it looks and is loose rock as well. The third pick here is post card material. Maybe next years Christmas cards.

This hill is the beginning of a run we may do on the River Shiver. It is about 1/2 hour north of the camp and is called 13 Mile Run. It is close to Mountainaire and Yaha tinda forest reserve area. We didn't make it up but figure that if we put some more effort into it we will be able to do it during River Shiver. Of course, a snowfall or temp change could change everything. The snow was about 12-18" deep here.

Yeah, the lj does fine with the all season car tires Wayne has on it. I suppose the two lockers help as well.

Looks like the River Shiver is sold out this year. We will arrange for more beds next year. It will be a blast with the deep snow on some of the runs.

My son and I are psyched - can't wait...pics are cool...thanks for posting. See you all in a little more than a week.

Nice pics man. Love the snow, although I wa probably at the beach when you were freezing your but off. he he

Just kidding man. Nice shots.

Great pics! At first I thought the LJ was an Isuzu Trooper. That is the 1st one I have ever seen. (I went to the link in your sig and edumacated myself about them).

I skiied at Banff about 5 years ago. Went up there with a friend of my cousin who was a hottie 42 year old woman and won a ski trip. I was late 20's and she needed someone to go on the ski trip with her. Talk about a fun time. MILF ! :grinpimp:

wow looks beautiful!... I've gotta get out there sometime! Thanks for the pictures.

Very "cool"!

Send us hi-res pics for another great feature!

Dave
