The River Shiver is fast approaching and we have been out doing some scouting of potential trails for the event. We always have a short list of trails we would like to run but the weather can turn an easy trail into a double locker in quick order.
We also had a considerable wind event in the fall and many of the trails are passable only after a magor logging operation. A few weeks ago a group of us cleared about 20 trees that had fallen across a trail in a matter of several hundred meters (yards). Upside, easy pickins for firewood.
Sunday myself in a '78 fj45, Wayne (crushers on mud) in his '90 lj78 and Herb in has fj80 with a turboed 1hz hit a few trails to assess their condition.
The temps were warm and the snow just deep enough to be challenging.
