riser, hydrant, garden faucet adjustment????

School me on this adjustment. I rebuilt it but there were no instructions on the adjustment to stop it from leaking
Its the kind that is anti freeze, lift the handle up type.
they are common in the north

Probably not much help as you have likely tried it given that you rebuilt the thing, but there is a brass "set screw" on the back of the rod that allows you to set where the "plunger" rod ends up. I have tried adjusting a few of mine, but have not had any luck and usually end up replacing the whole shooting match.

Flat fibre "O" rings go bad.

It does not allow them to seal properly.

If you live on a well source for water, a grain of sand is enough to mar the seat area,

the rings I replaced are all round. where are the flat ones? I believe it seats at the bottom below the drain hole and the stopper it rubber maybe the gain of sand it there?
yes I have a well. maybe pull it again?
